Lip carcinoma mimicking keratoacanthoma: case reports

ABSTRACT Oral amyloidosis is a disease characterized by extracellular and irreversible deposition of amorphous fibrillar proteins in the oral cavity, being strongly associated with Multiple Myeloma. The objective this study to report case 62-year-old woman diagnosed Myeloma who, approximately 2 years after starting treatment for underlying disease, presented lesion on lateral border tongue exophytic growth, pinkish color, vascularized, painless, measuring 3cm its largest diameter. After histopathological analysis through incisional biopsy, final diagnosis was obtained. As local treatment, we opted complete excision lesion. patient evolved death due influenced systemic amyloidosis. usually presentation making it necessary conduct thorough investigation other organs. Its important since prognosis directly related can negatively influence survival rates disease.
